Question about my freshwater fish aquarium?
i have a 20 gallon tall aquarium with a filter, aquarium heat system and screen lid. i have measured out all the gravel and it has been cycling for just over two weeks. I just removed three common goldfish from the aquarium and am getting new fish tomorow. Is it ok that there were goldfish in the tank while it was cycling? and should i clean the aquarium before i add new fish? or will that delete the purpose of the cycling process? thanks for answering
How do I cycle a new fish aquarium?
I just set up a 29 gal aquarium that I plan on using for goldfish. I wanted to know what I need to put in the water and how long it will take before the water is safe for the fish?
Best fish aquarium for a young child?
I'd love to buy a fish aquarium for my 8 year old daughter to keep in her bedroom. I'd like something easy to keep clean, and as compact as possible. Any suggestions?
Why is brown algae growing in my fish aquarium?
Brown algae is growing all over the sides of the tank and over the plants and little decorations. I just scrubbed everything in the tank on Sunday to clean it off and the algae is back again. I have a glass, 29 gal. aquarium and use the florescent light that it came with. The water is about 78 80 degrees and I have two filters in the tank cycling about 330 gph. I change about 20% of the water weekly and last week I changed 50% of the water. The aquarium is about two months old but I didn't have this problem for the first month and a half but now I can't get rid of it. What should I do to stop the growth of the algae and keep it from coming back? Is their anything I can put in the water to kill the algae so I don't have to scrub everything again? The fish seem perfectly normal but I would like to fix the problem before it affects their health. Thanks
Is there paint that is safe to use on fish aquarium decorations?
I want to sculpt my own aquarium decorations to create a custom theme. I am not sure which clays would be safe. I considered making them out of ceremic clay, but I have no idea about paint. I know most paints wouldn't be safe, but I know there has to be some. I've seen many cheap yet over priced rockish cave decorations painted a variety of horrid neon colors. Also, if anyone knows which clays are safe I'd appreciate the advice. I'd just carve them out of stone if I could. P
