Broad Leaf Ludwigia aquarium plant?
HI, I just bought a little potted Broad Lead Ludwigia plant and was looking for some tips on care for it. I looked online but did not find much. I have a short 5 gallon tank and the plant is taller than the tank So i wanted to try to get it to be a little bushier and not quite as tall. I have 3 White Cloud Mountain MInnows and one Mystery Snail. Thanks so much And also I was wondering if the plant does well just free floating? Like for bits i would cut off?Thanks
Stocking first aquarium?
I have a 20 gallon tall looking to sock it after a fishless cycle. I would like to have a dwarf gourami should I have one male and one female? I would like to also have fancy guppies with them? I would also like to have some kind of bottom feeders maybe corydora cats any idea of amount open to suggestions dont want to overstock any ideas would be appreciated.
Are freshwater snails beneficial to an aquarium?
Assuming their population is kept under control? I have 2 golden mystery snails and would like to get more for cleaning purposes. Are they harmful to the fish? Do they increase the ammonia and other chemicals in the aquarium as much as fish do?
Adding african convicts to an aquarium?
Hello. a couple months back I was given 8 young convict cichlids. I have had them in a grow out tank. It is getting crowded so I thought about putting them in my 85 gallon cichlid tank untill I can find homes for them. Most of them are around 2 inch. In my tank the biggest would be a 4 inch oscar. And some 3 inch firemouths. And few other asst cichlid. All around 3 inches. The only agression in the tank is between the firemouths. I think convicts will be ok with hiding spots. Any advice ? How long does it take to cycle an aquarium?
I have a 10 and 29 gallon take. The 10 gallon has 11 fish. Four swordtail, three guppies, two catfish and two platies. The 29 gallon has five catfish, and three grown angel fish.The 10 gallon started with fourr fish for a week and the 7 others were added after one week.

Okay so actually I just have a simple question. Is it okay to use a submersible pump that is built to be used in ponds in an aquarium, or do I need to buy a different kind? If so how much will it cost? I have a 50 gallon tank.Also what size air pump will I need for a 50 gallon tank?Other info about my intentions It will be a brackish tropical tankI want to have various kinds of fish as well as snails and live plantsNOTE I really don't want to use a different filter unless I absolutely have to. I've been looking for a fairly big aquarium for awhile. i used to have a 20 gallon long but i sold it when i moved a few years back. what are the different benefits of a 50 gallon long compared to a 50 gallon tall fish tank?
Cycling my fish aquarium HELP PLEASE!?
8 Months ago I bought a small tank for a box turtle i found. I made a little pool in the tank so the turtle could get water whenever it needed it because box turtles dont spend a whole lot of time in the water. After a while I decided I wanted to put a few fish in the pond. I bought fish a couple of times and they kept dying. Thinking temperature was the issue I tried acclimating them more before releasing them into the mini tank. After I did this all but three fish died striped tetra, rosy, small catfish and those three fish survived for about 6 months until I accidentally killed them in my next aquarium attempt. I knew nothing about cycling and apparently had cycled my mini tank on accident because they survived when I overfed them every other day. how else would the ammonia have just disappeared if it wasn't cycled . Still not knowing about cycling I bought a new 10 gallon aquarium a couple days ago. Set it all up the way I wanted it and bought fish again and introduced them oops . They all died along with the three fish that I had kept for so long. This is when I began researching and found out about cycling and learned all about it. After learning that I should use media from my old tank I replaced about 25% of my new tank water with old tank water, cut up part of my old filter sponge and put it into my new filter, and I put my old filter on my new tank along side my new filter for about 4 hours. Then the next day today I bought a master test kit and found that my Ph is 7.2, ammonia is 1.0ppm, Nitrite 1.0ppm, Nitrate 10ppm. I understand how the cycle works I just don't understand what this tells me. Because there is some nitrate does that mean my tank is somewhat cycled? Do these results mean anything? What should I do to ensure that it is cycled and when could I possible introduce more fish? Thanks in advance this is much appreciated
HELP ME! RED ALGAE GROWTH IN MARINE AQUARIUM!?
My saltwater aquarium recently started growing red slime algae. So... I cleaned my tank, then a day later its the same. It is out of control and covering everything, I have no idea what to do, are there any pet stores that sell red slime algae killer? I also have coral, inverts, and fish, so nothing harmful. please respond
Aquarium filter making bubbles?
I just bought a Tetra 1.5 gallon aquarium for my new betta an quickly installed the whisper filter that came include with no problem,,, after about and hour though instead of only water the filter is spewing out a lot of bubble and they are starting to cover the whole surface of the water... What can I do to fix this? Is it even a problem? Thanks
